Alexey Lantsev
Artist Overview
Alexey Lantsev is a contemporary painter whose work moves freely between figuration and abstraction, rooted in an expressive visual language. His paintings are marked by strong gesture, emotional intensity, and a distinctive approach to color.
Background
Active on the international art scene since 1996, Lantsev has participated in numerous exhibitions in Moscow and abroad. Over the course of his career, he has held more than twenty solo exhibitions across France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Switzerland, and Hong Kong, establishing a strong and consistent presence in contemporary painting.
Artistic Language & Themes
Working in a style closely aligned with expressionism, Lantsev places emotion, gesture, and color at the center of his practice. Landscape remains a recurring and essential motif in his work. These landscapes are not literal depictions, but emotional impressions shaped by the places where they were created — including Italy, France, Portugal, Georgia, and Turkey.
Highlights
Alongside his studio practice, Alexey Lantsev is the author of ten large-scale monumental mural projects realized in Moscow and the Chukotka region. These works reflect his interest in scale, spatial dialogue, and the interaction between painting and architectural environment. Through his practice, Lantsev explores the landscape as a state of mind — a space where memory, movement, and emotion merge into powerful painterly expression.
Collaboration with Artograph
In collaboration with Artograph, Alexey brings his emotionally charged landscapes and expressive abstractions onto clothing. His prints transform garments into moving fragments of his painted worlds, capturing the feeling of places rather than their literal appearance.
