Alina Sellig
Artist Overview
Alina Sellig is a self-taught contemporary artist whose work is driven by emotion, experimentation, and a deep connection to nature. Her paintings capture the quiet magic of the world through color, texture, and light.
Background
Born and raised in Northern Germany, Alina spent years exploring the world before finding an inspiring new home and atelier in Sóller, Mallorca — a place that strongly influences her artistic language. The Mediterranean light, sea, and landscape have become central to her visual world.
Artistic Language & Themes
Working primarily with oil paint, Alina creates both experimental and traditional fine art pieces. Her practice includes three-dimensional paintings built with a palette knife and rich layers of oil paint that can take up to a year to fully dry. Alongside this expressive approach, she also creates classical oil paintings composed of many thin layers, focusing on portraits, animals, and atmospheric depth.
A central motif in her work is the beach and the ocean, often depicted from a drone-like perspective. These compositions are intentionally minimal — built from dots, strokes, and texture — allowing the viewer’s imagination to complete the scene. Through this approach, Alina seeks to evoke feather-light summer moods, joy of life, and a sense of freedom. Her art is meant to be felt rather than explained, bringing joy, memories, and warmth into new homes.
Exhibitions & Recognition
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including a key exhibition tour in South Korea in 2022, and she has been featured in the German WELTKUNST Magazin. Today, Alina continues to create art that celebrates emotion, presence, and the beauty of everyday moments.
Collaboration with Artograph
In collaboration with Artograph, her sunlit beaches and textured seas become wearable fragments of summer, turning clothing into a gentle reminder to slow down and enjoy life.
